May 2012
The Council’s contractors have finished the remedial works to the playground.
Although most of the work was likely to have been completed by the middle of May, the mound and sandpit were out of bounds until after the Jubilee weekend so that the sown grass and turf stand a better chance of getting established. Although the filthy weather stopped a lot of children playing outside in May and June, at least the new grass has had a good soaking.
The banks have been made less steep so that the grass isn’t worn away so easily and new boulders have been added on the slope facing the sandpit. Extra edging to the pit should reduce the amount of sand that spills over and kills the grass.
