Oct 2011: It's VERY hot!
It’s rare that a public park is used to express irony but it happened in Blakers during the first weekend of October. It was the hottest Autumn weekend on record, reaching 29°C, and those who visited the park either sunbathed or headed for the cool of the shade.
However, someone with a fine sense of humour spent a little secret time decorating one of the young trees in the top half of the park – with Christmas Tree decorations. Perhaps the perpetrator is from the southern hempisphere, where yuletides are warm and sunny. Either way, the tinsel, fir cones and golden bells were a lovely touch.
